Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and artisan **Pastry Cook** to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for creating pastries and desserts FROM SCRATCH with a keen eye for cleanliness and quality. As a Pastry Cook, you will play an integral role in producing high-quality baked goods for our shop, ensuring consistency, creativity, and excellence in every product.

Key Responsibilities:
- Baking and Preparation: Prepare and bake a variety of french pastries, cakes, cookies, tarts, meringues, creams and other dessert items, following recipes and maintaining consistent quality and taste.
- Ingredient Management: Weigh and mix ingredients to create doughs, batters, fillings, icings, and other pastry components. Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of weight out correctly.
- Food Safety & Cleanliness: Adhere to proper food safety and sanitation standards in all areas of kitchen work, including food storage, handling, temperature control and cleaning.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of baking supplies and communicate with the Pastry Chef or kitchen manager when supplies need replenishing.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of pastry items for events and daily service.
- Consistency & Quality Control: Ensure all pastries are consistent in appearance, taste, and texture. Monitor baking times and temperatures to achieve perfect results every time. And reassuring all pastries are aesthetically presented in line with pastry shop standards.
- Cleaning and Dishwashing: Ability to maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring all kitchen tools, equipment, and dishes are washed, sanitized, and properly stored according to food safety standards.

Qualifications:
- Experience: We are strongly open to candidates with a strong passion for pastries and a willingness to learn. Previous experience as a pastry cook, baker, or in a similar role in a professional kitchen is acceptable, though not essential.
- Education: Culinary school education or formal pastry training is a plus, but not required.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards of quality including cleanliness.

Basic Math Skills: Able to weigh ingredients and perform simple calculations for recipe accuracy and portioning.

Knife Skills: Strong ability to handle and use knives safely for the accurate cutting, slicing, and trimming of fruits and other ingredients, ensuring precision in pastry preparation and presentation.

Task Endurance: Capable of performing continuous tasks, such as mixing, rolling, or decorating, for long durations without compromising quality or focus.

Waste Reduction Awareness: A strong commitment to minimizing waste by efficiently using ingredients, properly storing items, and following best practices for portion control.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for the duration of your shift, lift heavy objects (25-50 lbs), and work in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information:
There is an opportunity for more hours in the near future, contingent upon business needs and job performance.
Candidates should be available to work a minimum of 16 hours a week from Tuesday to Thursday between 7am - 6pm with occasional weekends and holidays depending on business needs.
